Paintings

Below are some of my current paintings.

"We may be humans,
but we are still animals!" - Steve Vai

It would appear that we are distancing ourselves further and further from nature and have increasingly forgotten our place in the world.
It greatly amuses me that there is a completely unfounded belief that somehow technology is going to dig us out of the whole we have managed to put ourselves in!

The Peacekeeper

In one of the world's greatest ironies...

The United Nations asked Tony Blair to be an
International Peace Envoy! The guy who took us into a completely pointless war, and entirely against public opinion!

Super Dave

When the going gets tough... The tough get going!

Look to the skies, as Super Dave disappeared into the distance when things didn't go his way!

Don't f*** with two jags!

When the Craig Evans threw an egg at John Prescott during a 2001 election campaign in Rhyl. Didn't he regret it!

Gordon the Fortune-Teller

The city seemed to believe that he had some form of foresight as far as the markets go... But in one of histories greatest political moments; in only the space of five minutes, his chances of re-election completely imploded when he met Gillian Duffy!

Didn't see that coming!

Who watches the watchers?

To some Edward Snowdon is a traitor and whistleblower! To others he represents some form of morality...The lazy intelligence services have decided that everyone is considered potentially guilty, and thus all of society should be monitored! Didn't George Orwell write a book that was kind of about that?

I am become death!

Oppenheimer's dilema... You can't uninvent things!
Leader of the Manhattan Project, he spent the rest of his life trying to distance himself from it. But you could argue; if not him, someone would have built an atomic bomb eventually!

Creation

We really haven't come that far from the apes we evolved from...
And yet we consider ourselves Gods!
One way or another, I suspect we will create the thing that will inevitably destroy us!

An Epitaph for Cecil

Dedicated to 'Cecil' the lion and the American dentist who was allowed by authorities to pretend to be a 'Big Game Hunter'!

Charlton Heston - NRA President

In the aftermath of the 'Columbine Massacre'...

There was another unsuccessful attempt to legislate American gun culture. Charlton Heston was president of the NRA at the time, and proudly declared, "The only way you're going to get my gun, is out of my cold, dead hands".

Apathy

In a painting that gives a fairly large nod to 'Magritte'
and 'Wish you were here'!

Dedicated to the men in grey suits and their constant mantra of...
"You can't do this, you can't do that!"

Stiffling creativity and ultimately legislating us all out of existence!

Legacy

They say that Nero fiddled as Rome burned...

Bureaucrats and accountants fiddle, as we slowly fuck up our planet! Shipping all of our crap to the third world...

Out of sight, out of mind!

Homage to Dali

The great one!

The Transience of Facebook

I read a story about a teenager who had unfortunately died...

Her mother contested Google, who were going to close down her social media sites... Her entire life and experiences only existed online.

People tend not to produce physical photos anymore. And all her friends, thoughts and likes can simply removed with the click of a switch!

Again 1984 and 'unperson', tend to resonate!

Hillary and gunboat diplomacy!

The US consider South America as their backyard and seem content in constantly dabbling and manipulating its politics!

My greatest regret is that I never got around to painting this
while he was still alive!
